It's been a minute since I've written an article, but I haven't had a strong opinion in a while and honestly this morning I was surprised, to say the least when I woke up to seeing posts all over social media with a similar headline. Especially when I saw Dana White promote the story himself. I just don't understand how someone can say "We don't do gimmick fights here" regarding Francis Ngannou vs Tyson Fury, but when Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk tell you they wanna fight on your promotion you're all for it. That just makes no sense. I imagine they'll both be paying Dana or something because that's insane by itself, but now the fact that the Italian Government wants to get involved and have two entitled billionaires to be the first fight inside the Roman Colosseum since the last Gladiator match thousands of years ago? That's just a disgrace and flat-out disrespectful to the modern Gladiators that we have today across professional MMA. I'm sure Zuck and Musk will be giving out some bags to get this done, however, it's just criminal to allow the return fight to the most sacred of all arenas to be two entitled douchebags pretending to be Bruce Wayne.
I know Mark Zuckerberg does train, so realistically he should beat Elon Musk in a fight. Yet, training alone shouldn't grant your debut fight to be in the UFC at the Roman Colosseum. Zuckerberg vs Musk shouldn't even headline the Nassau Colosseum. I have been getting so irritated about hearing this story for the past two weeks, but this new update this morning is just absurd. Dustin Poirier vs Justin Gaethje is a fight that is worth bringing the UFC and MMA to the Colosseum. Jon Jones vs Francis Ngannou would make sense. With all the viewership records Conor McGregor broke, I'd say he's earned the right to bring fighting back to the Colosseum of Rome. Conor vs Nate 3 would be an epic bout to bring fighting back to the Colosseum. I'd even love to see Conor vs Charles Oliveira at the Colosseum. Gladiators were forced to fight and die putting their lives on the line in this arena just for entertainment. MMA is the closest thing that we will ever get to experiencing what the people of Rome were watching in the Colosseum. Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk have no right to headline the Colosseum of Rome unless they're giving a presentation on the Metaverse, or Tesla.
I hope that this never happens and it somehow bites Dana in the ass because his lack of promotion for real UFC fighters is really disgusting. Dana promotes Slap, the Nelk Boys, Howler Head, Prime, and now Musk vs Zuckerberg. Something isn't right. Belal Muhammad and his ten-fight win streak seem like something more people should know about. Shavkat Rakhmonov could probably use some promotion still. Can we build fighters? How entitled are you to think that you can just pretend to be Bruce Wayne for a few months and then just main event the Colosseum of Rome? I am rooting against Zuckerberg vs Musk, and most importantly Dana White. The UFC needs new leadership so it can break away from all the nonsense that is the Dana White circus. I think Daniel Cormier can be the guy. DC is already great at promoting the UFC and the fighters themselves, let him be the guy because frankly, I've had enough of Dana White.
