The Ultimate Fighter is here. Yet, episode one was a snooze fest if I'm gonna be completely honest with you. Maybe it's because I'm not a reality TV fan, or maybe it's because it felt like Conor and Michael Chandler were barely on the screen. There's only hype surrounding this season because of Conor being a coach. The opposing coach really could have been anyone because Conor is bringing the views. That said I want to see more Conor and more Chandler, or more fights. Why give us a 45-minute episode that is going to end with a 45-second KO? If that's the case at least give the fans a couple of fights. I don't mean to sound harsh, but Nate Jennerman got way too much screen time. Even Roosevelt Roberts, who looks like he's already the favorite.
The first episode should have been completely about Conor and Chandler and their coaching strategy and how they like their fighters if that's the fight that was going to complete the episode. Let us watch the fights, and get a chance to know the fighters before they're shoved in our face. The UFC needs to remember that Conor is what the people wanna see and that this season is supposed to be building to a fight between Chandler and McGregor, it felt more like a setup for how the season is going to go and each episode is going to be about the competitors more than Conor and Chandler.
I have another complaint as well. The draft, in the beginning, didn't even happen. Dana walked out and said there's gonna be a coin toss for the first pick and then next thing you know we just found out Chandler is coaching the vets and Conor is coaching the prospects. Based on Roberts vs Jennerman, the red team is going to win-handily, but who knows, maybe Conor's hand-picked prospects can show something special.
Next week should be interesting. Lightweight Champion, Islam Makhachev is gonna be making a cameo at the minimum. I'm intrigued, to say the least. Hopefully, this season will improve in entertainment value because I'd say episode one was somewhere between a 5.8 and 6.3 out of 10 which isn't a great score, but I guess that's still higher than I would rate some other reality television.
hit the nail on the head. should have at least 2-3 fights per episode.
