Tonight is the second episode of TUF. Last week was honestly one of the most boring season premieres of any television show I've ever watched. Let's hope that wasn't an example of how this season is gonna go. Tonight I expect to see Trevor Wells (McGregor) vs Timur Valiev (Chandler) due to the fact they were listed right under Roberts vs Jennerman. Hopefully, we'll see at least two fights tonight because I think that was where the disconnect was for me. I'm sure we'll learn a ton about Wells and Valiev, but I'd rather get to know them as fighters more than people and then learn about who they are as people as the show continues because it is gonna last till August. I'd also like to see some sort of beef grow between Conor and Chandler, otherwise, what was the point of making them coaches? It felt like there were zero interactions between them last week. The fact that Islam is getting thrown into the mix for episode 2 also feels suspect, to say the least. What is he even going to be doing?
Are we going to get to see Islam coach one of his fighters against a team Chandler and/or McGregor competitor? I feel like that would be the only reason to bring him there, otherwise, it's pointless because Conor and Chandler aren't even fighting at Lightweight. Unless we're getting Aljo next week for the Bantamweights, I just don't get it. I'm intrigued by the Champ's presence, but I just don't really see where the impact is going to be.
Hopefully, we get more McGregor and more Chandler, because, at the end of the day, they're reeling in the views. I'll be honest, no one cares about these fighters on TUF until they see them fight. Forty-Five minutes of learning about two guys I might never hear about again could get nauseating. So, what do we need from TUF tonight? Islam's appearance to have value and not take away from McGregor/Chandler, at least two fights (but I'm doubtful on this one), and more McGregor/Chandler interactions!
