Tenth-ranked Lightweight, Jalin Turner has been booked for UFC 285 for a few months now. His opponent seventh-ranked Lightweight Mateusz Gamrot took this fight on short notice. Turner was originally supposed to fight eleventh-ranked Lightweight Dan Hooker. No disrespect to Dan Hooker, but he has been very up and down in the past years of his career, and due to this, he would have been a slightly easier opponent of Jalin Turner. Turner is currently on a five-fight win streak with his last two wins coming over Brad Riddell and Jamie Mullarkey. Jalin's last loss is to the "Steamrolla" Matt Frevola in 2019. It has been a good three and a half years for Jalin Turner since the loss to Frevola.
Mateusz Gamrot could have been on a five-fight win streak of his own going into this fight on Saturday if he didn't get knocked out by Beneil Dariush in October. The fight against Dariush was a master class in grappling and jiu-jitsu until they came back to their feet. Beneil eventually started landing really heavy shots that just put Gamrot out. Jalin Turner is extremely dangerous as he can knock you out or tap you out. Gamrot might have made a really rash decision by taking Turner on short notice.
It would be tough to see this fight go the distance unless Gamrot wins because the only time Jalin has been knocked out in the UFC was a Welterweight bout against Vicente Luque in 2018. Turner has never been submitted in the UFC. The current DraftKings line is Gamrot (-210) vs Turner (+180). I don't understand how that is with Gamrot taking the fight on short notice, but as of right now, I'd say Jalin Turner money line is easy money. When more lines come out it'll be interesting to see what the line for Turner inside the distance looks like.
UFC 285 is right around the corner and don't be surprised if Turner vs Gamrot steals the show!
