It's UFC 291 fight week and we're in store for a card full of slobber-knockers. The main card is star-studded even with the loss of Costa vs Aliskerov. Truth be told, it never felt like that fight was gonna happen either. Michael Chiesa vs Kevin Holland is gonna start the main card. Chiesa hasn't fought since 2021. On the other hand, Kevin Holland has been one of the most active fighters in the UFC win or lose fighting 3-5 times a year since he stepped foot in the UFC. Holland's fights are always unpredictable, but I believe he'll get the job done. This week is also the return of Tony Ferguson. Tony is currently on a five-fight losing streak and I hate to say it, but I feel he should retire if he loses this week to Bobby Green. I have faith that Tony has some gas left in the tank. That's why I have this fight ending via KO/TKO or submission. If Bobby wins, I won't be shocked, but I'd hate to see Tony lose again.
Stephen Thompson vs Michel Pereira is a potential fight of the night. Thompson is a master kickboxer. Michel Pereira is one of the most entertaining fighters in the UFC. There will be highlights from this fight all over social media mixed in with whatever happens in the main and co-main event, I guarantee it. Thompson has been more active than Pereira as Michel hasn't fought since May of last year. He is on a five-fight win streak, but Thompson is the best opponent that he'll face to date.
Jan Blachowicz vs Alex Pereira is another one of the most unpredictable fights of the night, if not the most unpredictable. Jan and Alex are the only two men to defeat the current Middleweight Champion, Israel Adesanya. Jan defeated Adesanya when Adesanya moved up to Light Heavyweight where he remains 0-1. While Alex is the only fighter to defeat Adesanya at Middleweight where Adesanya is one of the most dominant fighters of all time. Let's see if Alex can one-up Izzy yet again and defeat the guy that Izzy has never defeated. Although, Pereira's bell might not have fully un-rung since April.
Poirier vs Gaethje 2 is going to be electric. We already know that this fight very well could be the fight of the night even considering the rest of the card is loaded, but if you've seen their first bout, you know that this one is gonna be electric. Poirier and Gaethje always bring fireworks and that's part of the reason the BMF title is up for grabs for the first time since Masvidal vs Diaz. All in all, UFC 291 is going to be the most electric card of the year!
