Jake Paul has signed with the PFL it is a done deal. The "Problem Child's" Debut is highly anticipated by MMA fans all over whether you actually like Jake or you just want to see him get knocked out. Most fans would like to see Jake fight either "Platinum" Mike Perry or "Showtime" Anthony Pettis. The problem is, neither of these fights is safe for Paul. Jake has knocked out former UFC fighters before, but that was in a sport where you can't use your legs or grapple. Yet, Jake already has a coaching offer from Harvard Student and former Lightweight UFC Champion, Tony Ferguson. Jake would be wise to accept. Tony has already beaten Pettis before in an epic battle. If Paul was somehow able to adopt Tony's unique style he could be really dangerous in MMA.
Anthony Pettis is one of the greatest fighters to ever compete in the sport. He is a former Lightweight Champion in the UFC and his resume stacks up against the best. In the PFL he is one-and-four. He lost three decisions, one was a split. His other loss was via submission, yet, Pettis has claimed he subbed strategically for the PFL playoffs. He, unfortunately, lost his playoff fight. Based on his PFL record you might say Pettis is the smart choice for Jake. If you know anything about mixed martial arts you'd know Showtime is still too dangerous for Jake Paul. Pettis has been training in various styles of MMA that give him his very own unique style of fighting that makes him look like a ninja inside the cage. Paul has been training boxing for a few years now and he's gotten pretty good at it evidently, but Pettis has trained in mixed martial arts for his entire life. Not just punches, but elbows, kicks, knees, and submissions. They don't call him Showtime for no reason.
As for "Platinum" Mike Perry, his last two fights have been in the BKFC, that's bear-knuckle fighting if you are unaware. He is also fourteen-and-eight in the UFC. Perry has shown interest in going to the PFL to fight Jake on social media and Perry vs Paul would certainly generate views. However, Perry is also super dangerous for Paul as he hasn't boxed a striker as close to their prime as Perry. Perry vs Paul would be a banger. Yet, Jake could also get squashed here.
So who is Jake actually going to fight in his first fight? My guess is someone at the bottom of the PFL roster we might not know. OR, it could also be someone who is more in line with someone with his type of resume. CM Punk is close to being on the unemployment line. Punk vs Paul could generate lots of PPV buys. Punk is also a really easy opponent for Paul compared to Perry or Pettis. Whoever it is will probably be someone the PFL thinks Jake can beat.
